TBPELS Recording Capture Policy – All committee and Board Meetings are recorded. These recordings are used for record keeping and minutes preparation. All recordings will be retained for 90 days past the time when the meeting has been officially transcribed and approved by the Board as per the TBPELS Records Retention Schedule and are subject to the Public Information Act.
The Regular Quarterly Board Meeting is the only recording to be publicly posted on the agency website and will be available approximately one week after the meeting date. To facilitate easier viewing, the posted recordings will be divided into manageable pieces according to the meeting agenda.
Viewing these recordings qualifies for continuing education credit under the category of self-directed study.
A maximum of five credit hours may be accrued for self-directed study*.
*What is Self-Study? The language in the rule states, "Credit determination for self-directed study is the responsibility of the license holder and subject to review as required by the board." Essentially, self-study is any study, research, reading, etc. that is relevant to the practice of a technical profession and includes educational, technical, ethical, or managerial content. So, reading up on a new topic, researching a new design, keeping up with current engineering periodicals, or reading about the engineering Act and Board Rules can all count. It is credited on an hour for hour basis, with a maximum set by the legislature at 5 PDH total per renewal period. Examples include, but are not limited to: reading/reviewing trade magazines or books, watching tutorials, and viewing other online content.
