Principles and Practice of Professional Surveying (PS) & Texas Specific Surveying Exam (TSSE)
As of May 2023, the exam requirements to become a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) in Texas have changed. The previously used 8 hour RPLS exam has been replaced with a combination of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Principles and Practice of Professional Surveying (PS) exam and a new Texas Specific Surveying Exam (TSSE).

TSSE Dates
TSSE exams will be offered 3 times per year (Spring, Summer, and Fall). All applications submitted before the application deadline will be considered for approval to sit for the exam. Once you have been notified that your application has been approved for exams, you can register. You will need to submit the TSSE Payment Submission Form with your $75 exam fee to TBPELS.

The Principals and Practice of Surveying (PS) and Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exams are offered by NCEES throught the year.
