Board & Committee Initiatives
All information provided via the links on the Board Initiatives site is for the purpose of informing the public and interested parties of the positions on issues and possible actions to be taken by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) - Texas Board of Professional Engineers (TBPE) and Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE) - SB277 (78th Regular Session, 2003) created a Joint Advisory Committee on the Practice of Engineering and Architecture (see Texas Engineering Practice Act §1001.216.) This committee is composed of members of both boards and is to meet at least twice per year to discuss issues relating to both boards and overlapping areas of practice. The Board has issued a Policy Advisory Opinion regarding comprehensive building design.
Joint Committee - Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) - TBPE and TBPG recognized that there is a potential for areas of overlapping practice and other issues that might affect both boards. As such, the boards have decided to form a joint committee to develop a process to handle such issues and to address the areas of overlap before they become areas of contention. International Licensure -To increase mobility of engineering with other countries, Texas has established temporary license agreements with Mexico, Canada and Australia based on the NAFTA and the AUSFTA free trade agreements.
