Engineering Continuing Education

In order to renew licensure, an engineer must have 15 continuing education (CE) credits/hours by their annual renewal date. These must include a minimum of 1 credit/hour over the Act/Rules and/or Ethics that must be taken every year and cannot be carried over. You may, however, carry over up to fourteen units of other approved CE from the previous year.

Self-Study

The Board allows five (5) hours of self-directed study in a topic related to the practice of engineering to meet part of your required 15 hours of continuing education necessary for license renewal. See the Continuing Education Program (CEP) Frequently Asked Questions for more information on what qualifies as self-study.

Documentation and Tracking

If you have utilized self-study, please document the amount in writing to including:

Date(s) of study
Number of hours claimed
Topic goals
Resources used
Short summary of the outcome of your study

Audits

After renewals, a percentage of the population will be audited and required to provide continuing education certificates and logs.
